What a crazy night in Rio! Sweden have to book flight back to Europe after fourth defeat in a row against Poland 24:25 (13:12) in Group B, while Brazil came on the edge of placement in knockout stage with tie against Egypt 27:27 (13:15). The last round will give an answer for the last two teams beside Germany and Slovenia who ara already qualified for quarter-finals.
Polish team celebrated the second win on the tournament against Sweden. Poles have been led by Lijewski with six and Bielecki with 8 goals, but Sweden were in the match until 53rd minute (21:20). However, strong defense made turnover in the last few minutes for happiness and joy in roster of Talant Dujshebaev who has to win last match against Slovenia to book a place in knock-out stage.
In match before, a real Non-european handball war has been seen between Brazil and Egypt 27:27 (14:14). Legendary Egyptian right bak Ahmed Elahmar (nine goals) had a chance to become a match winner, but 16 seconds before the end Mark Santos saved his 7-meter shot. Brazilians tried to score, but they didn’t have a chance. Langaro, Pozzer, Teixeira and Soares netted four goals each for the host team.
It is now clear tha three teams fight for two last places in knock out stage. Poland will play against Slovenia, Egypt will clash Germany, while Brazil will try to beat indisposed Scandinavians.
