TRANSFER BOMB IN FLENSBURG: Marko Grgic in FLENS Arena direction!

SG Flensburg-Handewitt has secured the services of Marko Grgić. The German national player has signed a contract until 2029.
“I’m incredibly excited to become a part of SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The club is one of the biggest in the world, and I want to help bring it back to where it belongs – right at the top. I’m especially looking forward to the fans, the standing terrace, and everyone who lives and breathes handball and this club,” says Marko Grgić about his move. “I know that this will be a huge personal and sporting challenge for me, and I want to master it with motivation, persistence, ambition, and belief in myself.”
Marko Grgić comes from a handball family. His father Danijel also played for ThSV Eisenach from 2003 to 2005, and his mother Ina played in the regional league. So, handball is in his blood – he started playing at the age of six with HG Saarlouis, going through their youth system up to the third division. In 2022, he transferred to then-second division club Eisenach. Together, they achieved promotion to the Handball Bundesliga a year later. In May 2024, Grgić made his debut for the German national team. At the Olympic Games in Paris, he scored 16 goals in eight matches and won the silver medal together with SG captain Johannes Golla and new teammate Luca Witzke.
“I’m incredibly proud that we were able to convince Marko to join SG and our vision here in Flensburg,” says SG Managing Director Holger Glandorf. “Marko is a young player who already brings a lot to the table despite his age, wants to keep developing, and is versatile in both offense and defense. For our backcourt, he represents an additional option and brings new possibilities and variations to our entire game.”
SG coach Aleš Pajović adds: “Marko is one of the biggest talents in the handball world. At his young age, he already has a lot of experience and is a member of the German national team – not many players can say that. Marko brings a strong character and the right mindset. He always strives to be the best. He will be a great addition to our team, and together we can achieve a lot – both for SG and for his personal development. I’m very much looking forward to working with him.
