Seif Elderaa joins FC Barcelona

Barcelona announced on Monday the signing of the 26-year-old Egyptian international, Seif Elderaa, for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2027, from French club Limoges. With this, the African player becomes the second reinforcement for the upcoming season, following the official return of young left winger Dani Fernández from German side TVB 1898 Stuttgart, which was announced a few weeks ago.

Elderaa, who can alternate between the center back and left wing positions, has already passed his medical review at the Joan Gamper Sports City, as shown in images shared by the club. He has established himself as a key player for the French team, where this season he has scored 99 goals in 20 domestic league games and 57 goals in 12 matches in the European League.

His performance has earned him a permanent spot in the Egyptian national team, where he already has 37 caps and three gold medals in the African Championships (2020, 2022, 2024). “It’s a dream come true. Barcelona is a great team, and they go out to win every game they play. I know this is the mentality: to try to win every competition we participate in,” said the Egyptian player in statements released by the Catalan club.

His versatility and height (1.87 meters) allow him to attack and defend, so with his arrival, the club will cover the likely departure of left back Thiagus Petrus to Hungarian side Veszprém and strengthen both the center back and defensive positions. “I think I’m an intelligent player. I have a lot of courage, and I always try to give 100% on the court. Maybe there will be a day when I’m not performing well, but I will always give my all. That’s who I am,” Elderaa concluded, who is the brother of fellow international Yehia.
