Telekom Veszprem finally prepared a no stress afternoon for their fans. The reigning SEHA GAZPROM Champions ended negative series from EHF Champions League with routine victory over Slovenian RK Gorenje Velenje 36:27 (19:13).
Veszprem’s coach Xavi Sabate had enough motivated players, eager to help the team to find the way out from the crisis, but two of them showed the most – left and right back shooters, Momir Ilic (10) and Marko Kopljar (6), who made clear advantage over rivals.
Slovenian team led by Borut Plaskan was ready to run with favorites which played at front of home fans at „Veszprem Arena“, but small rotation framed their effort into reasonable resistance, which could put Veszprem in danger.
RK Gorenje were in the game in the first 13 minutes (7:7), but only seven minutes later Hungarians had +5 – 14:9. This gap stayed until the end of the match. Sabate kept the balance of power of first line-up with necessary replacement.Ilic and Kopljar’s work from the first half continued Lekai and Ancsin in the second until the final whistle.
Matjaz Brumen netted six goals at RK Gorenje Velenje.
Telekom Veszprem are again on the third place with quite good chances to qualify for SEHA GAZPROM Final 4.
