Kim Andersson to finish career and become a coach!

This season will be Kim Andersson’s last as a player. But next season will be his first as a coach. The 42-year-old will become the assistant coach alongside Oscar Carlén.
– For me, it feels fantastic to continue being close to handball even after my playing career, says Andersson in a press release.
Kim Andersson has been playing handball at an elite level since 1999, but now his playing career is over. Instead, the right back will become the assistant coach and youth coordinator at Ystads IF.
– First and foremost, Kim will finish his playing career with another playoff, but after that, a new and exciting role awaits him in the club. We are incredibly happy that Kim is taking on this role, and I am completely convinced that he will contribute enormously – both with the senior team and the youth team, says the club’s sports director, Kenneth Andersson, in a press release.
– He has an incredible sense of detail, high expectations, and a genuine commitment to developing his teammates. Kim has been a key player both on and off the court for many years, so for him to now focus entirely on developing others is fantastic for the entire club.
Andersson has won three Swedish championships, two with IK Sävehof and one with Ystads IF, six Bundesliga titles, and three Champions League titles. On top of that, he has scored 824 goals in 240 national team matches for Sweden.
– For me, it feels fantastic to continue being close to handball even after my playing career. It will be incredibly exciting to team up with Oscar – in my eyes, the absolute best coach in the league. I am really looking forward to this new challenge and the opportunity to contribute in a new way, says Kim Andersson.
