HC Erlangen and Martin Schwalb Part Ways

Handball Bundesliga club Erlangen and head coach Martin Schwalb have decided to go their separate ways with immediate effect. The expected sporting progress failed to materialize since the former Hamburg coach’s appointment. Under Schwalb, the team managed only 5 points in 15 games and has been struggling at the bottom of the table for months.
Assistant coaches Johannes Sellin and Matthias Obinger will take over coaching duties for Erlangen until further notice.
Despite big investments in the roster, HC Erlangen are in the relegation zone with the last win celebrated on November 29 against FA Goppingen 28:24.
