Farewell to a Legend: Timur Dibirov’s Last Dance in the EHF Champions League

A great career is coming to an end. Legendary Russian Timur Dibirov will play his final match in the EHF Champions League wearing the jersey of Zagreb.

The second all-time top scorer in the most prestigious European club competition, with over 1,200 goals, a two-time champion with Vardar, and a future EHF Hall of Fame member, Dibirov will retire this summer at the age of 42 and return to his homeland.

Dibirov is playing his 21st season in the Champions League. He started with Chekhovskie Medvedi, where he spent nine seasons and reached the Final4 tournament in 2010 in Cologne. This was followed by a legendary nine-year spell with Skopje’s Vardar, where he was one of the team leaders during its golden era, before joining Zagreb in 2022.

Zagreb vs. Kielce at 18:45.
A match for prestige for the Croatian champions, who have lost their chance to advance to the knockout stage, but nevertheless a special occasion—the final 60 minutes in European competition for a great handball icon, whose legacy will be remembered by many generations of players.
