AEK Secures Key Victory Over Olympiacos (38-34) to Cement Top Spot


AEK’s men’s handball team delivered a stellar performance, defeating Olympiacos SFP/Omilos Xyni 38-34 in a packed “G. Kasimatis” arena for the 18th round of the Handball Premier. With this victory, AEK extended their unbeaten run across all competitions and widened their lead at the top of the table to four points, securing home advantage for the playoffs.
AEK started strong, quickly taking a 2-0 lead through Duarte and Arabatzis. Their solid defense and fast breaks pushed the advantage to 15-9 by halftime, with goalkeeper Zenti making key saves. In the second half, Olympiacos fought back, cutting the deficit to three goals (31-28) with eight minutes remaining. However, crucial goals from Sakho, Panagiotou, and Arabatzis ensured AEK’s victory, sealing the final score at 38-34.
AEK’s fans created an electrifying atmosphere, supporting the team from start to finish in what was a dominant performance securing their top position ahead of the playoffs.
