Luc Steins and Paris Saint-Germain – together until 2029!

Paris Saint-Germain Handball announced the extension of Luc Steins’ contract. The Dutch centre-back is now tied to the Club through to 30 June 2029.

Luc Steins joined Paris Saint-Germain Handball in 2020 as a medical joker following Nikola Karabatic’s injury, and an agreement was subsequently reached in March 2021 for him to sign a three-year contract with the Parisian club. A true connoisseur of the French league, having played for Massy, Tremblay and Toulouse before joining Les Rouge et Bleu, the Dutchman quickly established himself as one of the key elements of the Parisian game.

During the 2021 season, he played a decisive role in PSG Handball’s winning the French league and Coupe de France double, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2021. Since joining the club, Luc Steins has added a number of prestigious titles to his list of honours, including four French Championships, two Coupes de France and a Trophée des Champions.

Crowned the Liqui Moly Starligue’s best player for three seasons in a row (2021, 2022 and 2023), the centre-half has become a veritable leader of the Parisian attack with his ability to orchestrate fast transitions. Steins will soon have the opportunity to pass the symbolic milestone of 400 goals scored in the Parisian club‘s colours, with the counter currently at 396 in 125 appearances.

After several successful years with the club, Luc Steins’ extension bears witness to the mutual trust between the player and Paris Saint-Germain Handball, and confirms his role as a key member of the team. His extension is a strong sign of the club’s ambition for the coming years.

Thierry Omeyer, Paris Saint-Germain Handball general manager

“Since his arrival, Luc Steins has been able to impose his style and become a key leader in our team. Seeing him extend his contract through to 2029 is a strong sign of stability and ambition for the club. We are delighted to be able to continue building with him and to see him embody the future of Paris Saint-Germain Handball.

Luc Steins, Paris Saint-Germain centre-back

I am determined to continue working hard to achieve our common goals and bring even more success to this club that has given me so much. The future is bright, and I’m looking forward to this new stage alongside my teammates.”
