Jota Gonzales to become new Polish NT coach


The Polish national handball team will soon have a new head coach. Jota Gonzalez, the current coach of Benfica, will take over the team from Michał Skórski, according to Polish media.
The White and Reds will still be under the leadership of interim coach Michał Skórski, but soon – as reported by TVP Sport on Thursday – the team will be taken over by Jota Gonzalez.
The Spaniard has been coaching Benfica Lisbon since 2023 and previously spent five seasons as an assistant at PSG Handball. Before that, he was the head coach of CBM Logroño La Rioja for over a decade, where he won four ASOBAL League medals and was twice named Coach of the Year, in 2011 and 2013.
Gonzalez will officially take over the Polish team at the end of the 2026 European Championship qualifiers. The White and Reds still have matches against Israel and Romania in May. Poland.
