Patryk Rombel leads PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk until 2029

Ex- Polish NT coach Patryk Rombel has extended his contract with PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk. The new agreement will be in effect until the end of the 2028/2029 season, marking a significant step in building the team for the coming years.
- Two factors influenced my decision to extend my contract with PGE Wybrzeże. Firstly, it’s the team we have built here. We have very good players with the potential to strengthen further. Secondly, it’s the vision presented to me by President Jacek Pauba and Damian Wleklak, as well as the direction in which PGE Wybrzeże is set to develop. This made me trust them, and I want to stay to continue our work – said coach Patryk Rombel after signing the new contract.
Patryk Rombel became the head coach of PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk in October 2023, replacing Mariusz Jurkiewicz and Jakub Bonisławski. Previously, from 2019 to 2023, he served as the head coach of the Polish national team. Since taking over in Gdańsk, coach Rombel has led our team in 50 matches (43 league games and 7 cup games) with reaching the Final Four of the ORLEN Polish Cup, as the main achievement.
- We want to take consistent steps forward in terms of both the club’s organization and our gameplay. Our goal is to strengthen the team as much as possible, establish ourselves in the upper half of the league table, and strive to compete in European tournaments – added the PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk coach.
Signing a long-term contract with Patryk Rombel is an important step toward achieving PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk’s ambitious goals for the coming seasons. This decision is also part of the club’s long-term vision and development strategy.
A strong desire for stability and growth was a key factor in our decision. Both parties are satisfied with the cooperation so far, so the decision was very straightforward for the management, and the negotiations didn’t take long. I’m happy that we will continue working with coach Patryk Rombel for the next four years – emphasized Jacek Pauba, president of PGE Wybrzeże Gdańsk.
We share very similar visions for the club’s development, both in sports and organizational aspects. The focus on young players is crucial and aligns perfectly with the coach’s philosophy. We want to keep progressing, and I hope that together we will give our fans plenty of reasons to be proud with better and better results. There is certainly more growth ahead for both the club and the team – concluded President Jacek Pauba.
