Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Handball Announces the Signing of Icelandic International Pivot Sveinn Jóhannsson Until 2028.
Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Handball has announced the signing of Icelandic international pivot Sveinn Jóhannsson (25 years old) until 2028. He will join the club in Savoie starting from the 2025/2026 season, arriving from the Norwegian club Kolstad.
Born in Reykjavik, Sveinn Jóhannsson began his professional career at his youth club, Fjölnir. He then played for Skjern Håndbold in Denmark, where he made his debut in the EHF European League in 2022, followed by a season in the Bundesliga with Minden. In 2024, he joined Kolstad Håndball, gaining experience in the Champions League.
Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Handball strengthens its squad with a powerful pivot (196 cm / 110 kg) who has amassed valuable experience across various European leagues and has been a member of the Icelandic national team since 2019.

A Forward-Thinking Recruitment Strategy
The Savoyard club, aiming to establish itself among the top teams in the Starligue, is already preparing its future squad with this signing, which marks the third official recruitment for the upcoming season. Jóhannsson joins Roberto Rodriguez (Goalkeeper – Granollers) and Matic Groselj (Right Back – Chartres) on the list of confirmed new arrivals for next season. Meanwhile, Harun Hodzic (Nîmes), Benjamin Richert (Montpellier), Gustavo Rodrigues (Cesson), Arthur Anquetil (Nîmes), Nikoloz Kalandadze (Aix), Inaki Pecina (end of contract), and Sebastian Skube (end of contract) have already been announced as departing players.
