Thibaud Briet Scores for the Planet: A Goal, A Tree Planted

Thibaud Briet, left back for HBC Nantes and a French national team, has decided to give his season a new dimension by combining sporting performance with environmental action. In a post published on LinkedIn, the player announced an original initiative: for every goal he scores, a tree will be planted.
“Handball is my passion, but nature and the environment are also causes close to my heart,” explained Thibaud Briet in his LinkedIn post. Aware that his initiative—carried out in partnership with EcoTree France—won’t change the world on its own, he nevertheless hopes to raise awareness and inspire other athletes to get involved in protecting the planet.
His trees, Douglas firs, will be planted in Ploërdut, Brittany—a carefully considered and deliberate choice, as Briet is personally funding the project.
The Nantes player is also calling on other athletes to take action:
“If every goal or point scored in sports led to actions for the environment, we could truly make a difference!”
