When it comes to South Africa, few people know that the country hosts a thriving handball community.
Handball is a young sport, which is currently played by roughly 6000 players nationwide.
In the Gauteng province, one of the main clubs is Soweto Moletsane Knights, which was started in 2007 by Mr Trevor Neiwenhout.
Initially the team targeted men and ladies at a junior player level (U/16 and U/18). Nowadays it has teams from U/14 till senior level.
The Western Cape Handball team is the current national team champion. At present, there is no national league yet. Though there is an annual national concentration tournament, where all regional provinces battle it up to win the SA title.
The South African national team has so far participated in various International competitions:

I don’t think its true that its only 6,000 athletes in participating in Handball in South Africa, you can visit only in Eastern Cape and Gauteng you we will triple that number (6, 000)

will shortly be back in South Africa, from switzerland, played handball as a junior in Geneva then at a later stage played for the Randburg handball club before joining with the joburg handball club in the late 80’s, then went back to switzerland joined up with servette HC for a short time… will be back In SA by 31 st January would like to join up with the JHC I was a keeper then and would like to play again or train keepers… is here a possibility…??’
